The box above has a fixed scrollable distance. The timer starts the moment you begin scrolling and stops when you reach the finish line at the bottom. Yourscroll speed is that distance divided by the time it took, inpixels per second.

Use a wheel, a trackpad, or a swipe — they behave quite differently. A trackpad flick covers distance fast thanks to momentum scrolling, while a mouse wheel is more incremental but easier to control precisely. Touchscreens often produce the highest numbers of all.
