What is a fast double-click speed?

This measures the interval between two deliberate clicks, which is a much shorter window than the threshold your operating system uses to decide what counts as a double-click at all.

Double-click interval bands in milliseconds.
RatingInterval between clicksWhat it means
EliteUnder 60 msClose to the floor your mouse hardware can register.
Very fast60–80 msA tight, practised two-click burst.
FastMost people80–120 msWhat a deliberate quick double-click normally measures.
Average120–200 msA comfortable, everyday double-click.
SlowOver 200 msTwo separate clicks more than one gesture.

Reading the numbers: Your mouse sets a hard floor. Switches use a debounce window of roughly 8–20 ms to filter electrical noise, and clicks inside it are discarded, so very low numbers say as much about the hardware as the finger. For context, the operating system usually accepts anything under about 500 ms as a double-click, so every band here is comfortably inside it.

How the double-click speed test works

Double-click the pad and the test reports the interval between your two clicksin milliseconds. A gap under 120ms is fast and under 80ms is very fast — well inside the operating system's own double-click threshold, which is usually around 500ms.

Your mouse plays a role: switches have a debounce time that briefly ignores signals after a click to filter electrical noise, and a high debounce can merge fast double-clicks into one. Gaming mice with low debounce tend to score better. Your fastest interval is saved locally.

FAQ

Double-Click Speed questions, answered.

What is a good double-click speed?

A gap under 120ms between the two clicks is fast, and under 80ms is very fast. The operating system's own double-click threshold is usually around 500ms, so most deliberate double-clicks are well inside it.

What does this test measure?

It measures how quickly you can perform two clicks in a row — a mix of finger speed and your mouse's ability to register rapid, separate clicks without debouncing them into one.

Why does my mouse matter?

Mouse switches have a debounce time that ignores signals for a few milliseconds after a click to filter noise. A high debounce can merge fast double-clicks, so gaming mice with low debounce score better.

How is this different from the CPS test?

The CPS test counts total clicks over several seconds. This measures the precise interval of a single, deliberate two-click burst — a different aspect of clicking speed.
