What is a good visual memory level?

Reading the numbers: The jump from level 7 to 10 almost never comes from trying harder. It comes from switching strategy: reading the lit tiles as lines and shapes instead of individual squares turns eight things to remember into two or three.

How the visual memory test works
A pattern of tiles lights up on the grid for a moment, then hides. Click the tiles that lit up — in any order. Clear them all and you advance a level, which adds another tile and, every few levels, a bigger grid. You have three lives; each wrong tile costs one.

How is it different from the sequence memory test?
